Established on 10 August 1995, it affects Vietri, Cetara, Maiori, Minori, Scala, Atrani, Furore, Positano, Amalfi, Ravello, Conca dei Marini and Tramonti.

The Denomination that characterizes these places is the Doc Costa d'Amalfi (among the vines admitted in the specification there are for the production of red and rosé wines: Aglianico, Piedirosso, Sciscinoso, Tintore, Tronto, Serpentaria; for the whites: Biancolella, Falangina, Fenile, Ginestra, Repella and Ripolo) which insists in the thirteen municipalities of the Amalfi Coast and which protects and enhances a viticulture made difficult by the scarcity of the soil and the rocky nature of the sloping places, the terraces around which roads, hairpin bends and walkways wind.

These themselves, however, are evidence of a viticultural tradition dating back to imperial Rome, or to an even more remote period, which surrounds archaeological sites of extreme importance such as the Roman Villa of Minori of the 1st century.
